The Impact of Excessive Addition of Corrosion and Scale Inhibitors on Circulating Water Pool Turbidity and Countermeasures

Products Details

Product parameters

Corrosion and scale inhibitors play a critical role in industrial circulating water systems, but excessive addition can cause turbidity problems in circulating water pools.

The Role of Corrosion and Scale Inhibitors and the Risks of Excessive Addition:

Corrosion and scale inhibitors have two main functions: first, they form a protective film on metal surfaces, isolating corrosive substances and slowing down corrosion; second, they disperse calcium and magnesium ions in the water, preventing scale formation and maintaining smooth water flow.

However, if excessively added, the inhibitor may not fully dissolve and may react with water substances to form precipitates or combine with calcium and magnesium ions to produce fine particles, all of which can increase circulating water turbidity.

Other Factors Affecting Circulating Water Pool Turbidity:

Circulating water pool turbidity is not solely affected by corrosion and scale inhibitors. Water itself contains impurities such as minerals and metal ions, which can reduce water clarity. Insufficient stirring during the addition of the inhibitor and excessively high concentrations in certain areas can also cause temporary turbidity. Furthermore, corrosion inhibitors and scale inhibitors may be incompatible with equipment, potentially producing corrosion products that cause turbidity. Corrosion products generated during system operation, algae, and dust and sand introduced from the air can also contribute to water turbidity.

Countermeasures:

To prevent excessive turbidity in circulating water pools from increasing corrosion and scale inhibitor dosage, strictly adhere to the manufacturer’s recommended dosage and thoroughly stir the agent to ensure even dispersion. Regularly check water quality and monitor turbidity changes. Optimize the water treatment system based on water quality and system requirements to ensure optimal water quality and maintain stable operation of the circulating water system.
